Speaking to organiser Áine Corcoran about the event, she said: “It went really well – it didn’t rain and there was a great turnout. Hundreds of people came on the day.

“The curragh racecourse have been absolutely fantastic to give us access to that whole area.

“We don’t charge people a set amount for coming, we just say give what you can. Every cent goes to the shelter."

The Curragh dog walk is not only a fundraiser, but a wonderful example of the good work that Kildare Animal Foundation does year round.

Áine said: “There’s so many things that we could all be giving to and its really nice that people support their local animal shelter. There was actually a lot of dogs there that had been rescued by the Animal Foundation and then rehomed afterwards, so that was lovely."
