Delay in renovation of housing units at Athy hospital

St Vincent's Hospital Athy

Progress is being made in relation to the housing units in council ownership in McAuley Court, St Vincent’s Hospital, Athy.

At a recent council meeting, Cllr Brian Dooley requested an update on the timeline for the renovation of housing units.

He said: “They are fabulous units up there for independent living for older people.”

Cllr Dooley commented on the length of time these units have been available for renovations, calling it “ridiculous”.

“2016 is when I was made aware of these units,” he continued. Even still, cllr Dooley was “delighted” to see the project progressing finally.

In response, the council confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the HSE regarding the transfer of these units with the draft terms with the final agreement subject to approval by the HSE Property Review Group.

While a definitive timeline has not yet been established, the council remains engaged in the process and will provide further updates as negotiations progress.
