A DRIVER in Naas had his car seized, and is now awaiting two summonses for dangerous driving having no insurance after attempting to pull some ‘doughnuts’ in a local car park – in front of a cop – over the weekend.
“Some people watch action movies, others try to star in them,” said gardaí on the an Garda Siochana Kildare Facebook page.
“Recently, one ambitious driver decided the local carpark was the perfect stage to practice their ‘Fast and Furious: Naas Drift' audition — right in front of a fully uniformed Garda,” he said.
Despite this bold strategy, reality kicked in quicker than the handbrake.
It turned out the driver was only a earner permit holder, had no accompanying driver, no valid insurance, but “plenty of misplaced confidence”.
The Naas Roads Policing Unit (RPU) brought the performance to an early finale, and seized the vehicle under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act, with a summons on the way for dangerous driving and no insurance.
“If you’re going to spin something, make it a good excuse, not your car in a public carpark,” said gardaí.
“Drive smart, not cinematic,” he concluded.
