Drug driver caught in the act again while gardaí delivered summons

DURING a routine operation, Naas gardaí caught a driver, who was under the influence of drugs, while on the way to serve them their summons for the same crime.

Members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit were en route to deliver the summons when they observed a car leaving a housing estate at a high speed. The vehicle was stopped, and officers quickly discovered that the driver was the very individual due to be served.

The driver underwent a roadside drug test, which returned positive results for both cocaine and cannabis and was arrested on the spot.

Gardaí confirmed that the motorist now faces a lengthy driving disqualification, a substantial fine, and the possibility of a prison sentence.

In a statement, officers reminded the public: “Never drive under the influence of drink or drugs – the consequences are serious.”
