NAAS Gardaí made an arrest over the weekend after stopping an "illegally operated" e-scooter during a routine patrol, finding a lot more than an illegal scooter in the rider’s possession.

Gardaí approached the rider and became suspicious during the interaction, prompting a search of the individual.

Gardaí discovered a quantity of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of €800, along with suspected cannabis herb valued at approximately €150. A significant amount of cash was also recovered.

Further checks revealed the man was the subject of an active arrest warrant. He was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act, in addition to a charge for failing to appear in court.

The man remains in custody on foot of a bench warrant and is expected to appear before the courts shortly. Gardaí have confirmed that a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The e-scooter involved has been seized as part of the investigation.
