URBAN lighting has been an issue, particularly for the Roseberry area of Newbridge since December. Work is being done to rectify the issues with lighting in the area and other areas within the Kildare-Newbridge municipality.

The has issued an update on the public lighting situation in Roseberry, Athgarvan, and Kilcullen following a query from Cllr Chris Pender.

In Roseberry, the council is currently working with ESB to develop a plan for upgrading the lighting system.

The proposed solution involves removing the switch wire and installing individual photocells for each light, ensuring that a fault in one light does not impact the entire estate.

For Athgarvan the council has updated that the issue has now been fully resolved, with the new infrastructure operational and in place.

Meanwhile, in Kilcullen, the ESB has confirmed that work is scheduled to begin within the next few weeks, addressing any outstanding concerns.
