Flats proposed at Kildare filling station

The service station in Nurney
A couple in Nurney are seeking permission to build seven apartments on the first floor over their existing filling station on the Village Green.
John and Gillian Kinsella are seeking to re-animate, and amend a permission they received back in 2008 when they built the filling station originally.
On that occasion they sought, and were granted, permission to demolish an existing house and shed to build three ground floor retail units, with three offices on the first floor.
However, they never built past the ground floor 16 years ago, and that permission has since lapsed, hence the new, amended application submitted earlier this week.
They are looking to build six 1-bed, and one 2-bed apartments on this this first floor, each approximately of 60sqm in area (total ground floor is 419sqm) with access to them via a new external stairs.
According to documents submitted, the site is in a location zoned ‘Settlement Core’, and the minutes of the pre-planning meeting revealed no objections in principle to the proposal.
A decision is due by 10 October.
