Funding allocated towards second bridge in Newbridge

Newbridge, Kildare

NEWBRIDGE is set to take a significant step forward in its long-awaited infrastructure project, as €150,000 has been allocated to Kildare County Council in 2025 to support the development of a business case for the remaining bridge section of the Newbridge Southern Outer Orbital Route.

The funding was confirmed by the Minister for Transport in response to a parliamentary question raised by Labour TD Mark Wall asking for the “up-to-date position” of the project.

The allocation will go towards advancing plans for the remaining bridge section of the Newbridge Southern Outer Orbital Route, a project designed to ease congestion and improve connectivity in the town.

The proposed second Liffey crossing has been a topic of discussion for years, with local residents and businesses advocating for improved transport links to accommodate the town’s growing population.
