Gardaí in Kildare catch speeders in a 50kph residential area

Kildare gardaí nabbed a number of drivers speeding in a 50kph zone residential zone.
The speed checks were carried out on The Green Road, Newbridge, following public concerns, say gardaí on the An Garda Siochana Facebook page.
A number of detections were made, five of which were posted on Facebook. Speeds ranged between 71-77kph.
“Despite repeated warnings, unacceptable speeds are still being detected. This is a 50km/h residential zone with schools and a crèche nearby,” said gardaí.
Drivers are set to get a €160 fine and three penalty points.
Separately, gardaí announced on Thursday that they have seized 55 vehicles in Kildare/Carlow garda division for offences including no tax, no insurance, disqualified drivers and learning drivers driving unaccompanied.
