Kildare County Council is moving closer to the implementation of an HGV restriction in Sallins as the local authority prepares to take responsibility for Millennium Park Road.
This update emerged at the most recent meeting of Naas Municipal District, where cllr Anne Breen asked the council for an update on progress to restrict HGVs travelling through the centre of Sallins village.
Senior engineer Daragh Conlan issued the council’s response, which stated that the HGV restriction cannot be introduced until the council takes Millennium Park Road in charge and reclassifies it. The council said the taking-in-charge process is “well progressed” and should be completed soon.
According to the council, the HGV restriction will be progressed once this is completed.
Speaking at the meeting, cllr Breen asked the council for a timeframe. Area engineer Yasir Khan told the councillor that the council will not have a timeframe until the taking in charge and reclassification processes are finished.
