Alms House

KILDARE County Council has confirmed that the historic Alms House in Naas is in the process of being transferred into its ownership, with plans to use the property for housing. The signing-over of the property has been long anticipated by locals as it has remained vacant for some 20 years.

The matter was raised at a recent council meeting by cllr Anne Breen, who requested an update on the purchase and the intended future use of the building. In response, officials confirmed that solicitors acting on behalf of both the council and the St Vincent de Paul are finalising the legal transfer of the property.

Once completed, the Alms House will come under the control of Kildare County Council and is expected to be repurposed for housing.
