Housing development in Athy's Shamrock Stores

HOUSING to be developed at the former Shamrock Stores site on Kildare Road in Athy is expected to be delivered by 2027.

At a recent Athy Municipal District meeting, cathaoirleach Aoife Breslin requested an update on the development of housing units. In response, the council confirmed that the project is included in the current work programme.

Cllr Breslin said: “This is really good news.” 

The development of housing is very welcome in the area, with cllr Breslin remarking that: “Some people I know have been on the housing list since 2005 and 2006". 

According to the outlined timeline, construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2026, with the anticipated completion and delivery of housing units by the second quarter of 2027.
