A WOMAN who alleges her estranged husband said “I’ll fu*k you up, and see what I can do to you?” was successful in her application for an interim Protection Order this week (14 July).

The woman from Kildare made her application behind the closed doors of Athy District Court during the family law session.

She explained that most recently her pre-school child was “bawling their eyes out looking for mama, and he told me not to go in there”.

“He first hit me when our child was seven months old, and over recent years has got violent,” she said.

“He said ‘I’ll f*ck you up, and see what I can do to you?’,” she alleged.

“He’s poked me in the chest, he’s pushed me…” she trailed off.

“Why is he behaving like this? Why?” asked Judge Desmond Zaidan.

“I’ve no Idea, I’ve asked for marriage counselling, but he refuses. He’s in the army,” she said.

“Is everything in your sworn statement true?” the judge asked her holding up the pre-submitted document.

“A hundred per cent,” she asserted.

I’ll grant the (interim) order, and adjourn the full hearing to 10 November,” he added.

“I’ve already left our bedroom. Should I leave the house?” asked the woman.

“I can’t advise you,” said the judge.
