SENIOR FOOTBALL 'A' - BR BOSCO CUP – GROUP 1 ROUND 2

ARDSCOIL NA TRĹONÓIDE 1-25 ST BENILDUS 0-7

Ardscoil Na Tríonóide got their Bro Bosco Cup campaign back on track with a resounding win over St Benildus at Naomh Olaf GAA Club.

The Athy side were well beaten by St Pats of Navan last Friday but this was much more like the form they showed on the way to last year’s final.

The return of Ronan Kelly to the team certainly made a difference. He didn’t feature in Friday’s due to his commitments with Athy in the Kildare Senior Final and just two days after playing 45 minutes he was back on the field again and his quality shone through.

Kelly was replaced in the famous win over Naas by Cian Keaveny and it was alongside his younger brother Callum that they wreaked havoc against a bewildered Benildus.

The Laois contingent in the side along contributed handsomely with Robbie and Cian Murphy and also Niall Hickey all having fine games.

Cian Murphy had struck the post by the time Kelly found the net after 70 seconds and Athy were always on top from there.

They led by 1-10 to 0-3 at half time and although Benildus didn’t lack for effort and commitment, Ardscoil Na Tríonóide were just too good and they ran out comfortable winners.

Ardscoil Na Tríonóide will now hope that St Pats beat Moate CS when they play them this week and that would a decisive game in Round 3 of the groups between the Athy side and Moate.
