KILDARE has recruited 11 new members of An Garda Siochána to stations in Newbridge, Kildare Town, Naas and Leixlip.
Kildare South Fine Gael TD and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon welcomed the news, following the attesting of one of the largest class of garda recruits since 2019, with 167 new Gardai attested at a ceremony in Templemore college on Friday 6 February.
He said: “This allocation of eleven additional Gardai to Kildare will be welcomed by people across Kildare. We are unique in Ireland in having a special bond of trust amongst the public and Gardai, and this is no more evident than in Kildare, where we have been fortunate to have a dedicated cohort of Gardai and senior management.”
“This latest allocation of newly attested Gardai will see Newbridge, Kildare Town, Naas, and Leixlip Garda Stations all benefitting, and follows on from the thirteen additional gardaí assigned to Kildare in November last.”
Minister Heydon added: “Public service is not just a career path, but an admirable vocation and the service of members of An Garda Siochana, who go to great lengths to protect and defend our communities, is service of the highest degree. I want to wish all new gardaí every success as they embark on their new careers.”
