Kildare charity calls on county to take 110km challenge this February

KILDARE-BASED charity, Sensational Kids, announced the launch of Step Up for Sensational Kids – a month long fundraising challenge inviting people across Ireland to walk or run 110 kilometres throughout February to support children with additional needs.
Open to individuals of all ages and fitness levels, the challenge can be completed anytime and anywhere. Everyone who registers will receive a free Step Up for Sensational Kids t shirt, helping participants stay motivated throughout the month.
Funds raised will support Sensational Kids in delivering timely, evidence based therapies and assessments, including Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy. These services play a vital role in helping children build confidence, independence, and brighter futures.
Brian O’Neill, Fundraising Manager at Sensational Kids, said: “The campaign offers a simple but powerful way for people to make a meaningful difference. Step Up for Sensational Kids is about combining movement with purpose. Every kilometre completed helps ensure children with additional needs can access the timely supports that make a real and lasting difference to their lives.” For many families, the impact of Sensational Kids’ services is profound and long lasting.
One parent shared this month: “Sensational Kids has been the lifeline of support for our family. The office, shop and therapy staff have supported my son for over 12 years and are one of the reasons he has become capable of so much. We are forever grateful.” More than 110,000 children are currently waiting for essential therapy appointments in Ireland. Each kilometre represents one child waiting for help.
