Kildare driver fined for parking in hospital loading bay

Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise
A Kildare driver decided to park his van in a loading bay at Portlaoise Hospital and in doing so was slapped with a €150 fine when his case came before last week’s sitting of Portlaoise District Court.
Detective Garda JP O’Brien told the court that on 29 October while he was on escort duty in the hospital he saw a van parked in a loading bay. He approached the driver Michael Donoghue from Ardrew Meadows, Athy and asked that he move it, which he failed to do.
Det O’Brien said that he issued Mr Donoghue with a fixed charge penalty notice, which he failed to pay.
Judge Susan Fay convicted the defendant, who was not in court, of the offence and fined him €150.
