Kildare-based Equine MediRecord, an international leader in equine digital health software, has partnered up with global insurance heavyweights to make the purchasing of bloodstock insurance more accessible and efficient for horse owners and trainers in the UK.
The company has entered a partnership with big players Willis, Markel & Kayna.
“In the past, purchasing insurance via traditional methods had been an issue with the equine industry that we have been hoping to address for some time,” said Finlay Dargan, COO of Equine MediRecord. “Horses remain a significant challenge to insure. Horse values are highly volatile, and insurance can be expensive. So, under-insurance and non-insurance are common. As part of our ongoing push for equine welfare, we hope that Equine MediRecord can begin to help support the growth of the equine insurance market and, in the long term, improve equine welfare outcomes for everyone.”
Anthony Borgman, head of GB Affinity, Willis, said: “We are delighted to launch the first fully embedded bloodstock solution making insurance easy to access and quick to arrange. Our partnership with Equine MediRecord, a leading international vertical SaaS provider of equine health and associated regulatory compliance platform services for racehorses, and Markel for their specialty product expertise, has enabled us to establish such an innovative solution for bloodstock clients.”
The group plans to launch the sale of equine insurance in the UK before moving on to further markets.
