Kildare mother accuses Tusla of raping her child

Athy Courthouse
A WOMAN claimed Tusla were raping her children in care and “making them cannibal fodder” had the application for their return adjourned for three weeks ostensibly to seek legal counsel on the advice of the judge.
“This is a legal depressing case,” noted Judge Desmond Zaidan behind a closed-door session of family law in Athy recently.
“She gave birth to her last child at home (in December) because if she gave birth in the hospital she feared Tusla would take the baby, but someone called an ambulance,” summarised the judge.
“The story was she was going to abduct the child from Tusla,” he added.
“Are you getting any help?” he asked the applicant.
“I have all the help I want,” she said. “I don’t need to engage for mental health, I don’t want to engage … I’m compos mentis,” she said.
“Nobody is saying (named woman) is a failed mother,” said the judge. “There’s a background to her, but sadly there are issues beyond her control, but she’s not a failed mother.” “I’m not happy leaving my child where she is, I want my child brought here today. I want my child now!” she shouted in court. “They want another month to rape my baby more.” “Your order for my baby is to be raped for another month? You’re offending me Zaidan,” she shouted, before leaving with her court-appointed solicitor Jackie McManus, while the judge summed up the situation with the Tusla officers present.
“The baby’s only a few months old,” he said. “The welfare of the baby is paramount. You are going to need independent doctors.” The case was put back to 14 August in Naas District.
