Kildare motorway pedestrian bridge to reopen

THE replaced stairs section of the Johnstown pedestrian bridge over the N7 is set to reopen by December.
This emerged at the most recent meeting of Naas Municipal District, where cllr Fintan Brett asked the council when the replaced stairs section would be re-opened.
Senior engineer in Kildare National Roads Office Marie Whelan issued the official written response to the question, saying that the stairs on the bridge are expected to reopen before December.
Ms Whelan’s response stated that her office has liaised with Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s employer’s representative, who have informed the office that ‘installation of parapet, concrete repair works, rewater proofing of stairs and application of anti-slip material surfacing have yet to be undertaken before stairs can be re-opened’.
