Kildare optician achieves Amazon bestseller

Nichola Kennedy from Kilcullen

Kildare optician Nichola Kennedy has reached No.1 in four categories within a week of release on Amazon with a groundbreaking book on child behaviour and vision.

‘See the Change: How Enhancing Vision Can Unlock Your Child’s Full Potential’ is a groundbreaking book on child behaviour and vision.

The book has struck a chord with parents and educators across Ireland and internationally, climbing to the top position in four categories and second in two more on Amazon.

Learning difficulties

It sheds light on the often-overlooked connection between vision dysfunction and the behavioural or learning difficulties that many children face.

Nichola, a respected behavioural and neurodevelopmental vision specialist with over a decade of clinical experience, wrote the book to empower parents who feel their child’s challenges aren’t being fully understood or addressed.

The Kilcullen woman argues that many children labelled as distracted, defiant, or underperforming may be struggling with undetected visual processing issues—not with motivation or intellect.

“Too many children are mislabelled when the real issue lies in how their brain processes visual information,” says Nichola.

“When vision dysfunction is identified and supported, the transformation can be remarkable.”

Encouraging resource

Far from a clinical textbook,’ See the Change’ is an accessible and encouraging resource for parents, teachers, and allied professionals.

Nichola draws from real-world experience and presents strategies that don’t require medical intervention or overwhelm already stressed families.

In her book, readers will learn the vision–behaviour connection, and how visual inefficiencies can mimic or worsen conditions like ADHD and dyslexia.

She offers simple, actionable tools to offer practical steps to help improve reading fluency, attention, and emotional resilience.

Confidence booster

The book also contains confidence-boosting techniques, including how to support a child’s development in positive, manageable ways — at home and in the classroom.

Nichola's guidance gives parents the insight they need to advocate effectively and unlock new potential in their child.

Nichola is a qualified optician and behavioural vision specialist runs a busy Kilcullen practice serving families from across the region.

She has helped hundreds of children and their parents understand the critical role of visual development in learning, behaviour, and confidence.
