Kildare projects receives €15m investment

KILDARE has received €15m in public works funding including €6m for a new community centre in Kildare Town.

The Kildare funding is part of a €409 million national investment announced by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne TD, supporting almost 120 projects across every local authority in the State.

Welcoming the news Minister James Lawless said:

“This is a really significant €15.15m investment in Kildare and very positive news for Naas, Kildare town, Newbridge, and Celbridge.

“I’m particularly delighted to see €4.4 million for Harbour Field in Maynooth and €4.3 million for the long-awaited development at Murtagh’s Corner in Naas.

“Kildare town is to receive €6m for a new community centre on the Dunmurray Road, while Newbridge gets €150,000 towards its central settlement consolidation Plan.

“These are substantial investments in two of our growing towns,” said the Minister.

“There is also important funding for Celbridge, with €150,000 for the Donaghcomper Masterplan and a further €150,000 for design work for the Parochial House and lands.

“This will allow these projects to progress and help position them for further capital investment.

“Our towns have grown enormously and we need investment in public spaces, amenities and town centres to keep pace with that growth.

“This funding is about investing in the future of our communities and making our towns better places to live, work and spend time.

“The focus now must be on getting these projects progressed and delivering this investment on the ground.

Minister Martin Heydon added: "With all of the new housing delivery across Kildare, it is vital that we continue to invest in civic infrastructure that builds further community development. This is a very significant investment for Kildare town that compliments the ongoing support of existing community and sporting facilities in the town."
