KILDARE County Council have received €4.9 million in funding for the Housing Adaptation Grant for Older People and Disabled People, as announced by the government.

The grant assists old or disabled people to have necessary improvement works carried out to their accommodation to make it more suitable for their needs.

Kildare County Council was allocated €4,171,314 Exchequer Funding. Combined with the projected Local Authority Contribution of €736,114 this brings the total funding up to €4.9 million for Kildare.

South Kildare TD, Deputy Mark Wall welcomed the funding and said: “The Housing Adaptation Grant for Older People and Disabled People is a critical funding source in supporting many older people and disabled people to make the necessary upgrades to their homes and support them to live in their own community.

“Going forward, the government needs to ensure that where significant demand exists funding should not be an issue. The Housing Adaptation Grant can be life-changing for many people, and funding should not be a barrier."
