Kildare resident charged with sexual assault of neighbour's daughter

A KILDARE resident in his 50s will appear before the circuit court in Naas this week for allegedly sexually assaulting his neighbour’s daughter.
The man who cannot be named unless the injured party waives her right to anonymity on foot of a conviction appeared in Athy District Court last week (26 May) for the formal presentation of his book of evidence by the state.
A brief outline of the case was revealed to the court where it was alleged he is suspected of sexually abusing his neighbour’s daughter and an address in Kildare on a date in the Autumn of 2024, contrary to Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) Act Noting the surname of the accused, Judge Desmond Zaidan said: “All of a (named country)origin?” The sergeant nodded.
Bail was set at €3,000, while the defendant was to “have no contact with the family whatsoever”, and live at an address given to the court.
