Kildare sports projects share €157K Dormant Account grant
€40,000 is to be allocated for Sports Inclusion Disability Projects
KILDARE South TD and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon, has said that €157,000 from the Dormant Accounts Fund will be used to invest in community sports and physical activity initiatives in Kildare through the Kildare Sports Partnership.
“In Kildare, we’ll see €50,000 for our sports hubs, €40,000 for Sports Inclusion Disability Projects, €46,000 for urban outdoor adventures and €21,000 for equality, diversion, and inclusion projects,” said Minister Heydon.
“This funding will help ensure that new opportunities and new sports are opened to people of all abilities and backgrounds across the county, and I am delighted to see funding of €157,000 for sports and community initiatives in Kildare from €4m nationwide. The Dormant Accounts funding allows unclaimed money to be used to overcome the barriers to participation in sport for those who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, or affected by a disability."
