Kildare Village

A large car park and shuttle bus service to Kildare Village has been approved by local planners.

Value Retail Dublin Ltd were given the green light for a managed car park and shuttle bus service for 345 spaces.

The car park would be located approximately 500m from Kildare Village, on the Nurney Road (R415) in Greyabbey townland, Kildare town.

The site is bordered by Grey Abbey View estate and the M7 junction 13.

The operators of Kildare Town Outlet Village say it would be a temporary proposal for five years, while they source a long-term site. It would operate during busy peak periods and they say would address congestion that arises from the motorway.

The outlet village say that the proposal is a like-for-like replacement as it will lose current overflow parking due to the proposed development of three motor showrooms, a project which is currently under appeal with an Bord Pleanála.

There would no be no increase in parking space, said the company.

Although TII had concerns that the development would only further promote the use of private cars, the council gave the proposal the green light for a five year period.
