GARDAÍ had no objection to bail being granted to a 31-year-old Kildare woman accused of possessing drugs.

Garda Aoife Laffan told Judge Susan Fay at the district court in Portlaoise last week that there would be no objection to bail on condition the accused signs-on three times a week at her local garda station.

Before the court was Genna Bennett (31) from 3 Beech Drive, The Friary, Castledermot.

She is charged with possessing cannabis for her own use and to possessing cannabis for sale or/and supply.

She is also charged under section 15A of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977, making it an offence to possess controlled drugs with a market value of €13,000 or more for the purpose of selling or supplying, as well as a charge of money laundering (€1,760) at Debbicot, Mountmellick, Co Laois on 8 July.

Judge Susan Fay remanded Ms Bennett on conditional bail to 19 January 2026 for the serving of a book of evidence and instructed the accused signs on at Athy Garda Station from 9am to 9pm every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
