Kildare woman writes poem in support of Zelensky

Zelenskyy, Trump, and Vance during the discussion

A MAGANEY woman wrote an impassioned poem about the recent Trump/Zelensky meeting which has been shared on social media and read out by Clem Ryan on KFM.

Caroline Wall Dixon, who has been a resident of Maganey, Athy, watched the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky over the weekend.

She said: “The man was ambushed and humiliated. I felt sorry for him.”

Caroline believes the behaviour of Trump and Vance was unprofessional and that they would have treated Zelensky that way “even if he’d worn a suit.”

She continued: “I write poetry and songs to express myself. I like to explain it the way I see things.”

In My Eyes

The gilded halls, a stage of scorn,

Where suits and ties, a power born,

Held court above a humble soul,

Whose spirit soared beyond their role.

A leader mocked, a nation's plea,

For kindness lost, for dignity,

Yet in his heart, a fire bright,

Burned through the dark, a guiding light.

No polished shoes, no silken thread,

Could match the strength within him bred,

For in his gaze, a nation saw,

A heart of gold, defying law.

They sneered and scoffed, with hollow sound,

While virtue bloomed on hallowed ground,

A simple man, with grace untold,

More worthy far than all their gold.

The ties, the suits, a shallow show,

Could never dim the light's soft glow,

For true nobility transcends,

The petty games, the bitter ends.
