Kildare's Isabelle inspires to take part Barnardos annual fundraiser
Isabelle Kelly from Kildare Town
KILDARE Town toddler, Isabelle Kelly is among more than 1,000 children in the county walking for Barnardos Big Toddle, to raise vital funds for early years services.
For most children, walking is a simple task but for two-year old Isabelle, it is a major achievement.
Isabelle was born with hip dysplasia and struggled to learn to walk, but thanks to physio and the support of her family, Isabelle is now able to walk independently and can join thousands of other children in toddling for a good cause.
Her neighbours have rallied to support her and will cheer her on as she toddles around her local estate. Her family thought Isabelle’s progress could inspire others to take part.
Isabelle’s mother, Niamh Kelly said: “On Isabelle’s birthday last year, she saw other children dancing and really wanted to join them, but she wasn’t able to stand independently. This inspired her to try even harder to walk on her own so that one day she could dance too. She has been in physio getting stronger every day and Isabelle was able to climb over a curb for the first time this weekend, so she continues to make amazing progress.”
Alison Kelly, Barnardos Head of Events, said: “We are incredibly proud of Isabelle and thrilled to welcome her to her very first Big Toddle. Isabelle’s determination sums up the very spirit of Big Toddle and she is a shining example of why early years services are so vital. We hope her amazing journey inspires more families across the county to follow Isabelle’s lead and sign up to take part in their own Barnardos Big Toddle.”
This summer, more than 20,000 young children from crèches, playgroups, preschools, and families across the country will come together to support Barnardos Big Toddle.
