Andy Lyons made his first league start for Blackpool today, on his 25th birthday, on the opening day of the new League 1 season - but he only last 45 minutes.
The Naas man suffered an ACL injury in February 2024 and his only competitive appearance since then was from the bench in the final game of last season.
He has got a good pre-season under his belt for Steve Bruce’s team and started at right wing back in today’s home game against Stevenage in front of just over 10,000 supporters.
Blackpool made the ideal start when George Honeymoon scored after six minutes but they were 2-1 down by half time, and Lyons didn’t reappear for the second half.
Stevenage eventually won the game 3-2 but the main hope coming out of the game will be that former Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers man Lyons hasn’t suffered any kind of injury.
Blackpool’s next game is next Saturday away to Exeter City.
