Man charged with rapeand assault causing harm

Judge Geraldine Carthy

A MAN from the Carlow area was last week sent forward to the Central Criminal Court in Dublin when he was served with a book of evidence in the local district court.

The 28-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of assault causing harm and one count of threatening to kill. The charges arose from two separate incidents that occurred in the Carlow area and in Co Waterford in October and June of last year.

Judge Geraldine Carthy put the defendant on an alibi warning, meaning that if he is to rely on an alibi, he must inform the gardaí.

The man was then remanded on continuing bail on certain conditions, including signing on at Carlow Garda Station, keeping a curfew and staying at a specific address.
