Man fined after setting up tent in Kildare industrial park
Monread Industrial Park
A MAN who told gardaí to "f**k off" before enjoying his tea and sandwich was fined €400 in his absence at a sitting of Naas District Court recently.
It was left to Sergeant Mary Meade to explain how the incident of 12 February last became costly for James Higgins (39) c/o Cois na Feadáin, Caragh Road, Naas.
“Judge, gardaí were called to Unit 1C in Monread Industrial Park in Naas on 12 February following a report that a man had set up a tent on the grounds,” she began.
“When the members opened the tent Mr Higgins said: ‘Ah, would ya fuck off’, and went back to drinking his tea and eating his sandwich,” she added. “Following this he was drunk and aggressive ... he has 32 previous convictions."
“This was not his land?” asked Judge Desmond Zaidan.
After hearing it was not, the judge fined Mr Higgins €400 on the threatening/abusive/insulting behaviour offence and took into consideration a trespassing charge.
