Maynooth University and Dunboyne College partner up to strengthen educational pathways

MAYNOOTH University and Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training are partnering together in a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will provide a framework for closer cooperation between the two institutions and support the continued development of educational pathways across further and higher education.

Maynooth University President Professor Eeva Leinonen welcomed James Lawless TD, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Martin G O’Brien, Chief Executive of Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) and Catherine Fox, Principal of Dunboyne College of Further Education and Training, to Maynooth University for the signing of the agreement, which formalises the institutions' intention to work more closely together.

The agreement will support exploration of collaborative opportunities across teaching and learning, healthcare education, widening participation and student progression. It also creates a platform for ongoing dialogue, knowledge exchange and partnership between the two institutions in support of learners, staff and the wider Kildare/ Meath region.

Through the partnership, the colleges will explore the development of clearly defined pathways to support students seeking to progress from further education to Maynooth University programmes, including in areas such as Nursing, Arts, Sciences and other disciplines.

The partnership builds on established progression routes between further and higher education and seeks to enhance opportunities for the approximately 500 students from Dunboyne College who progress to higher education each year.

The MoU is effective from the date of signing until February 2028 and will be reviewed annually.
