WORKS on the Monasterevin Textile and Fashion Hub is continuing, with Kildare County Council providing an update on the progress of the project and outlining expected opening in September 2026.

The update was issued in response to a question from cllr Kevin Duffy, who sought clarity on the current status of the facility.

According to the council, demolition works and internal alterations at the site have been completed. Structural works are also well advanced, with reinforcement installations and the pouring of ground floor foundations finalised. Installation of floor screed has commenced, while all structural steel elements have now been installed.

Further works are ongoing, including construction at the archway soffit and fire floor level. Installation of joist hangers, insulation, and the silents floor system is reported to be approximately 80 per cent complete. The council say all ‘project submittals’ are currently on schedule.

The council said expressions of interest have been received from potential workshop facilitators. A programme of skills-based community and business workshops is planned, subject to funding support from the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board (KWETB).

The project is currently scheduled for completion by the end of July, with an official opening anticipated for the end of September 2026.
