Murphy's 0-22 puts Ballymore Eustace ace atop scoring charts

Ballymore Eustace's Niall Murphy leads the way in the scorers' chart after two rounds of the Tom Cross Junior Football Championship. His monstrous haul of 16 points in the win over Ardclough brought his tally to 0-22 from the opening two games.

Indeed, the top two scorers have both benefitted from facing the porous Ardclough defence. Athgarvan's Euan Brown struck 1-11 in his side's Round 1 victory, leaving him second in the standings.

Behind them, Ethan O'Donoghue and Daniel Gilbert have each scored four goals so far.

Rathcoffey's O'Donoghue followed up his opening-round hat-trick by hitting 1-5 in an impressive display against Robertstown. He is also the joint leading scorer from play, with his tally of 4-4 matching the 0-16 Murphy has registered from open play.

In the open-play charts, Gilbert sits just behind that duo, with all of his 4-3 coming from play.

Cappagh's Shane Donohue and Rathcoffey's Tom Moriarty have both contributed 3-2 across the opening two rounds.

Another eye-catching name near the top of the charts is Conor Byrne. The young Rheban side have endured a difficult start to the championship, suffering two defeats and carrying a scoring difference of -49. However, the son of legendary Kildare goalkeeper Christy Byrne has been a rare bright spark, with his 11-point haul giving his side something to cheer.
