New apartments could be coming to Kildare village
Sallins canal
A PLANNING application has been lodged for the development of four one-bedroom apartments on Main Street in Sallins, Co Kildare.
Castlewood Taverns Ltd is seeking permission from Kildare County Council for works that would see the demolition of an existing two-storey dormer rear extension to the properties, which are currently in mixed commercial and residential use.
At present, one of the buildings accommodates a ground-floor hairdressing salon with a residential unit overhead, while the adjoining property is in use as a ground-floor bookmakers with offices on the first floor.
The proposal includes the construction of a new two-storey rear extension to the existing two-storey terraced buildings, along with amendments to the front façades, including the installation of new doors and windows.
As part of the development, the applicant is also seeking a change of use of the existing buildings to allow for their overall conversion into four one-bedroom apartments, together with all associated site works.
The application comes with a significant rise in residential development in the area and is currently under consideration by Kildare County Council.
