New school building on the way for St Mary’s College, Naas

NAAS secondary school, St Mary’s College, has recently received a Letter of Intent by the Department of Education for a significant new school building project, which marks a big step towards the construction of the new building.
The project forms part of the Department’s Large Scale Capital Programme and will deliver a new school building with a capacity of 1,000 pupils, including six dedicated Special Education Needs (SEN) classrooms.
Local Fianna Fáil TD and Minister James Lawless said the announcement represents very positive news for the entire school community, including the Principal, Board of Management, staff and students.
“This is very welcome and positive news for St Mary’s Girls Post Primary in Naas. The issuing of a Letter of Intent marks an important milestone in progressing this project and ensuring the school has the modern facilities it needs to support students now and into the future,” Minister Lawless said.
Minister Lawless also acknowledged the work and commitment of the school leadership and community in progressing the project.
“I want to commend the Principal, the Board of Management, staff and the entire school community for their continued engagement and commitment. I will continue to work closely with the Principal and the school to ensure this new development progresses as quickly as possible and that the project moves forward to the next stages without delay.”
With the Letter of Intent now issued, the next step in the process will involve finalising contracts before construction can proceed.
Minister Lawless said he looks forward to seeing the project progress and to the delivery of modern, high-quality educational facilities for students in Naas and the wider Kildare area.
