New social housing proposed for Naas residential area
In addition to the new housing plans, five existing council units on Sarto Road are at various stages of refurbishment
NEW and refurbished social housing units are on track for delivery as confirmed by Kildare County Council at the most recent Naas MD meeting.
Cllr Ger Dunne requested an update on the status of vacant council properties and new housing proposals in the Sarto Road and Sarto Park area of Naas at the November Naas MD meeting.
In response, the council confirmed that approval has recently been received from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage for single-stage funding to deliver seven new residential units in the area. The development will include three two-bedroom houses and four one-bedroom apartments.
According to a report issued by the Acting Senior Executive Architect with the Housing Capital Team, and the Administrative Officer with Housing Maintenance, the council’s Architectural Services department is currently tendering for consultants to advance the project to a Part 8 planning application stage, which is targeted for the second quarter of 2026.
In addition to the new housing plans, five existing council units on Sarto Road are at various stages of refurbishment. The council noted that all refurbishment works are due for completion “in the coming months” – with no specific timeline attached.
Cllr Dunne requested a meeting with the council’s department to go over questions he has in relation to the projects.
Naas Mayor, cllr Seamie Moore agreed to helping him with that request and said: “We will see if we can manage that for you.”
