Newbridge is set to benefit from further investment in community recreational facilities.
At a recent meeting of the local municipal district, cllrs Peggy O’Dwyer and Chris Pender put down a motion calling for Kildare County Council to ringfence and allocate any remaining funds from the development of the Moorefield Park playground and surrounding area towards the delivery of a new playground and the implementation of a masterplan for Lakeside Park, Newbridge.
In response, the parks department confirmed that any residual funding after the completion of works at Moorefield Park will be directed to Lakeside Park, as well as to upgrades at the existing playground in Newbridge Sports Centre.
Planned improvements at the sports centre include the replacement of the junior multi-unit, the iPlay unit, and the safety surface.
“We want the investment in parks to remain in parks. As long as it stays in the area I’m happy,” said cllr Pender.
“It’s really important,” agreed cllr O’Dwyer.
