Newbridge's Liffey Lodge to be used for age-friendly housing

Liffey Lodge, Newbridge

LIFFEY Lodge in Newbridge has been earmarked for Age-Friendly Housing under the council’s Housing Delivery Action Plan.

This update came from a question that was brought to the recent Kildare-Newbridge MD meeting by Cllr Tom McDonnell when he asked Kildare County Council for an update on the use Liffey Lodge as a youth centre.

Senior Executive Officer of the council’s Community Department responded that the property would not be used for a youth centre, but that it is now included in the council’s Housing Delivery Action Plan as a location for Age-Friendly Housing, which will provide much-needed right-sizing opportunities in Newbridge, allowing older people to continue living independently.

While Liffey Lodge will not serve as a youth centre, plans are underway to develop a separate community space focused on youth activities nearby.
