Speed camera warning sign

A NEW speed camera has been installed on the N7 near Kill which has had residents scratching their heads as to what kind of camera it will be and if it will be a permanent operation.

It has been confirmed by gardaí that the camera seen by locals is a mobile safety camera, which are used to detect and deter speeding vehicles. These cameras are part of the wider road safety strategy aimed at reducing collisions and promoting safer driving.

Gardaí told the Kildare Nationalist that the camera in question is currently undergoing field trials and that there is no current plans to introduce this camera as a permanent fixture on the N7.

As always, Gardaí urge road users to “drive at an appropriate speed, to reduce the likelihood of being involved in a fatal or serious collision.”
