'Off centre' white line on Kildare road can't be realigned

A REQUEST that realigning the white line in the middle of the road in Bridge Street, Rathangan, is "not currently possible", cllr Noel Connolly was told at the recent meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District.
The councillor requested the change to allow more space for cars using the road to pass parked vehicles unimpeded. However, the report on his motion stated that it is not currently possible to change the line due to the position of a bus stop on the road.
Cllr Connolly acknowledged the report and the comment on the bus stop position, but suggested that the centre line as finished is "off centre".
"I also can't accept that a bus stop, only used for a few minutes a day, can be a problem."
He asked that a meeting be arranged with an engineer on site, and that was agreed.
