OVER 14,000 households in Kildare receive the fuel allowance.
The fuel allowance, which is a means-assessed payment, will be paid for 28 weeks.
The payment is made at the weekly rate of €33 or if preferred, by way of two payments of €462 each.
Kildare South Fine Gael TD, and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon said: “It plays a vital role in supporting hundreds of thousands of families around the country with their heating costs over the winter months, particularly 14,366 recipients in Kildare.” You do not need to reapply for fuel allowance each year if your circumstances have not changed and you continue to get the same social welfare payment.
The fuel allowance season will run for the next 28 weeks and will be available until April.
Nationally, 410,000 households are supported by the allowance.
