Local, regional and national roads in Kildare have been allocated over 25 million euros for maintenance and repair works this year.

Included in the allocation is over €200,000 to progress a relief road for Newbridge.

Kildare South Fine Gael TD, and Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, Martin Heydon welcomed the news. “I am delighted to see that €25,739,499 in funding has been allocated to Kildare County Council for essential national road repair works across Kildare.” 

He added: “The allocation for protection and renewal of the existing national road network will fund a range of activities including road safety improvements, pavement renewal, maintenance of bridges and structures, and measures to ensure the network can withstand the increased number of severe weather events.” 

Speaking about the Newbridge funding, he said: “The funding for the project allows progress to continue on the delivery of the second bridge for Newbridge as we pursue this vital project for the town.”
