PLANS have been lodged for a new residential development in Kildare Town that would see 19 homes overall delivered across two adjoining sites on Bride Street.
Developer BBMH Ltd has submitted two separate planning applications to Kildare County Council relating to lands to the rear of the building known as Bolands Pub and nearby derelict buildings at 1-2 Bride Street.
Under the first application, the company is seeking permission to demolish existing derelict storage buildings and partially remove a stone boundary wall along Bride Street to make way for a 12-home scheme.
The proposed development includes the construction of 10 three-storey, three-bedroom houses and two two-storey, two-bedroom houses. Plans also provide for the re-grading of the site, adjustments to the existing vehicular access, and the creation of 10 car parking spaces on a shared surface.
A new public open space is also proposed, with two mature trees set to be retained as part of the development. Landscaping, planting, lighting, drainage infrastructure and associated site works are also included in the application.
The second planning application relates to the redevelopment and restoration of derelict former stables buildings and vacant commercial units at 1-2 Bride Street.
The proposal would involve the partial demolition of the rear roof sections of the existing buildings, along with the demolition of a derelict storage building to the rear of the site.
BBMH Ltd is seeking permission for the renovation and rear extension of the existing structures to accommodate five apartments, alongside the construction of a new two-storey replacement building containing a further two apartments.
The plans also include the restoration and repair of the street-facing facades along Bride Street, as well as the provision of a communal courtyard for residents.
Both applications were received by Kildare County Council on 30 April, with submissions due by 3 June. A decision on the overall development is due by 24 June.
