TWO large planning applications have been lodged to Kildare County Council for the combined construction of 176 residential units in Sallins.

William Neville & Sons Construction Unlimited Company has proposed the two developments on lands at Sallins Link Road and Clane Road in Sallins, Co Kildare.

The developments, submitted as phase one and phase two, set out a large-scale housing scheme featuring a mix of houses, apartments, duplex units, community facilities and public open spaces. Phase one proposes 78 residential units.

These include 29 houses, comprising 23 three-storey, four-bedroom semi-detached or terraced homes and six two-storey, three-bedroom semi-detached houses.

A further 49 homes would be delivered across five apartment and duplex blocks (Blocks 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6), ranging from three to four storeys. The units include six one-bedroom apartments, 31 two-bedroom units, and 12 three-bedroom units, each with terraces or balconies.

Block two would contain eight duplexes and eight apartments, block three also includes a mix of duplexes and apartments, blocks four and five are three-storey blocks made up entirely of duplex units, and block sux provides five apartments and includes a ground-floor crèche.

The plans also include vehicular access from the Sallins Link Road, pedestrian access from Clane Road, internal roads, 137 car parking spaces serving the two phases, bicycle parking and bin storage. There is also plans for a multi-use games area.

A separate application for phase two proposes an additional 98 homes.

The majority (73 units) are houses, comprising 23 two-storey, two-bedroom semi-detached or terraced homes, 42 two-storey, three-bedroom semi-detached or terraced houses, four two-storey, three-bedroom detached homes, and four three-storey, four-bedroom semi-detached houses.

Two further blocks would deliver 25 apartments and duplex units, including 10 one-bedroom units and 15 two-bedroom units.

Block one, at three to four storeys, features a mix of one- and two-bedroom duplexes and apartments. Block six, also part of the Phase 1 submission, contains two one-bedroom and three two-bedroom apartments and includes a crèche at ground level.

Phase two incorporates internal access roads, pedestrian and vehicular links to the Sallins Link Road and Clane Road, 196 surface-level parking spaces shared across both phases, bicycle parking and bin storage.

A games area also form part of the proposal.
