An Expression of Interest (EOI) to the market has been issued for the new 888 Local Link service which will operate from Athy to Monasterevin to Rathangan and Allenwood.

This new service will connect these towns and villages together and into other public transport services.

The service proposes to have stops in Kildangan, Monasterevin, Mountrice, Rathangan, Newtown, Cappanargid, Lullymore and Allenwood.

The service will operate seven days a week and have several pick up/drop off times during the day from early morning to late evening. It’s hoped that this service would be operational later this year.

“I have been campaigning for this new service for a number of years now and it’s wonderful to see this EOI be issued,” Senator Fiona O’Loughlin said. “This is a critical step towards its implementation. It will connect rural areas like Rathangan providing people with public transport to access services and facilities in our town, while also supporting industries like Lullymore Heritage Park.

“Ensuring better access to public transport, whether rural or urban in south Kildare is something I have been advocating for both at a local and national level for many years.”
