Protest against SNA cuts in Athy this evening
Athy
THE TOWN of Athy is putting together a protest this evening in response to potential Special Needs Assistant (SNA) cuts in local schools.
Mark Wall TD has urged the public to show their support for SNAs at a demonstration taking place this evening in Emily Square.
In a public appeal, Deputy Wall said SNAs play a vital role in ensuring many children can access education, working closely with entire school communities to support students with additional needs.
He called on the public to stand in solidarity with the workers amid concerns over potential cuts, saying communities must show the Government that reductions to SNA supports would not be accepted.
Supporters are being asked to gather at Emily Square in Athy at 5pm this Wednesday evening. Organisers are also encouraging people to share the message and invite others to attend in a show of community backing for SNAs.
The demonstration is expected to draw families, educators and local representatives concerned about the future of special education supports in schools.
