WORK on a plan that is crucial in securing funding for upgrades in Rathangan is approaching completion.
Work on the Rathangan Town renewal master plan began in the summer, with several milestones having been achieved by June.
At that stage the plan was on track for completion by the third quarter of 2025, with that timeline being contingent on the availability of resources.
At the most recent meeting of Kildare Newbridge Municipal District, cllrs Pat Balfe and Brian O’Loughlin asked if Kildare County Council (KCC) could provide a date for the public consultation on the project.
A report issued by Aidan Martin, acting senior executive engineer in strategic project and public realm at KCC, stated that the renewal plan for the town was “approaching completion, with additional project interventions currently being incorporated”.
The report added that the plan would be finalised in the following weeks, and that the document would be subject to review by the senior management team early in the new year with arrangements for public consultation to be made after that.
It was noted previously that the completion of the plan would significantly improve the town’s chances of securing funding, as it would improves its chances during the assessment of grant schemes.
