Road closures announced for Athy triathlon

Several roads in the Athy area will be closed next Saturday 30 May due to the TriAthy triathlon.
The Athy Distributor Road will be closed from the roundabout at the R418 junction to the Fortbarrington Road Junction between the hours of 07.15 am and 4pm.
The 10km stretch of road south from Emily Square down to Maganey Crossroads will also be closed from 07.15 am to 4pm.
Four roads will be closed from 07.30 am until 3pm: the L8084 from Levitstown to Kilkea, the R418 from Kilkea (L8084 junction) to Castledermot, the L8086 from R418 (Sill’s Cross) to Castleroe West crossroads, and the L8087 from Castleroe West crossroads to Beaconstown Cross.
Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted. Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained.
The triathlon will begin at 9am on Saturday morning, with 2,500 expected participants.
